5 Tips for Managing Mild Suboxone Side Effects

Some patients experience side effects when using Suboxone. Side effects from Suboxone may become more mild overtime. Below are some tips to help you manage the discomfort.  If you are having sever side effects with Suboxone or any medication, call 911 and contact your physician.

  1.  If you experience nausea, take Suboxone with a meal or after you have even a snack.  You can also take Suboxone with an antacid to reduce stomach upset.
  2. To reduce constipation, drink more water, eat more fiber like raw and lightly cooked vegetables, oatmeal and whole grain cereals, whole grain/ wheat bread, beans, and fruits, and exercise regularly.
  3. If you are experiencing sleep problems, avoid napping, limit caffeine intake and maintain regular bedtime.
  4. For aches and pains, add regular stretching and walks to your daily routine and use over-the-counter medication like ibuprofen.
  5. If you experience issues with pain or redness in the mouth, switch the side of the mouth that you use to allow your Suboxone to dissolve. Continue to switch back and forth.
